Caution: Typhoon Megi approaching, September 27, 2016

„In case the city government of Taipei issues a typhoon-day for Tuesday, September 27, 2016, our office remains closed that day. Booked appointments will be cancelled. Persons with a confirmed appointment on that day will be contacted individually for rescheduling. Thank you for understanding! In case the city government does not issue a typhoon day, it is business as usual.”

On the "Day of German Unity" Monday, October 3, 2016 the German Institute will remain closed.

As the office building Taipei 101 will remain closed to the public on Monday, October 10, 2016 (local public holiday) we are, unfortunately, not able to receive any visitors (citizen services, passport and visa applicants) on this day.

Announcement on Blocked Account!!

Information about blocked account

If you want to apply for signature certification for blocked account from German Institute Taipei, as from August 22nd, 2016 please prepare following documents:

1.       Form for opening the blocked account (please fill out the form on your computer and print it out)

2.       Original and copy of your passport (black and white copy only!)

3.       Copy of your admission letter from German University or certification from Language School

4.       Proof of your financial source (e. x.: copy of your bankbook, certification from your bank in English)

5.       Blank envelope (should be at least A4 size)

When applying for signature certification of opening blocked account at German Institute Taipei, you should provide all documents as mentioned above.

“Citizen Services” now offered without electronic appointment

Since September 1, 2016, the German Institute Taipei practices free access for “Citizen Services" without electronic appointment. "Citizen Services" such as certification of a signature, authentication of documents, life certificate (for pensioners), formal obligation for visa purposes ("Verpflichtungserklärung") are offered from Monday to Thursday from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. On Fridays, we are not able to provide Citizen Services.
The processing time is usally about five working days. Please submit a self-addressed envelope with sufficient stamps or courier bag which we will use to return your document(s) to your address.

For access to our consular waiting room/counters please use the visitor terminals in the entrance area of  the Taipei 101 office building.
